Jaguar Unveils Type 00 at Miami Art Week

  • Jaguar

Jaguar has revealed the Type 00, a striking design concept that represents a bold new direction for the iconic British brand as it embraces its electric future. The Type 00 embodies Jaguar's new creative philosophy of "Exuberant Modernism," blending innovative design with a fearless approach to electric vehicles. This concept car stands out with its dramatic proportions, including a long bonnet, sweeping roofline, fastback profile, and 23-inch alloy wheels, all contributing to a striking silhouette that challenges traditional EV design.

The Type 00 showcases Jaguar’s commitment to recapturing its original ethos of "Copy Nothing" while evolving for the future. The design features a combination of bold, modernist forms with elements that honour Jaguar's heritage, such as the iconic ‘leaper’ emblem and a new monogram replacing the traditional ‘Growler.’ The Type 00 is built on Jaguar’s new electric architecture (JEA), a platform developed specifically to support future electric models that will deliver both performance and comfort.

"We have forged a fearlessly creative new character for Jaguar that is true to the DNA of the brand but future facing, relevant and one that really stands out." Rawdon Glover, Managing Director, Jaguar.

Copy Nothing

"Just as on the outside, deployable technologies are a hallmark of the interior. Screens glide silently and theatrically from the dashboard, while powered stowage areas slide open softly on demand, revealing hidden splashes of exuberant colour. We believe technology should enhance the modern luxury experience, not dominate the architecture, and the digital screen at the centre of the dashboard is an example of this philosophy. The Clearsight display replaces the traditional rear‑view mirror, improving overall visibility." Tom Holden, Chief Interior Designer, Jaguar.

This model is not just about looks—it’s a preview of Jaguar’s first reimagined production car, which will be a four-door GT electric vehicle, slated for release in late 2025. The car will offer a range of up to 770 km (478 miles) on a single charge, and it will be capable of adding 321 km (200 miles) of range in just 15 minutes of charging.

The Type 00 was unveiled at Miami Art Week, aligning with Jaguar's goal of being a champion for art and creativity. The reveal highlighted the car's vibrant colour choices, Miami Pink and London Blue, reflecting both the city’s Art Deco legacy and the brand's British roots. With this release, Jaguar underscores its transformation into a fully electric, luxury brand, staying true to its legacy while embracing a bold new future of cutting-edge design and sustainability.

Jaguar has earned a reputation for original thinking inspired by the singular vision of founder, Sir William Lyons, who believed that Jaguar should be a ‘copy of nothing’ and that its cars should be considered as artforms.
