McLaren today unveils the new Artura Spider, marking its debut convertible featuring a high-performance hybrid powertrain and the second model in the Artura lineup. The new Spider boasts significant enhancements in power, performance, and driver engagement, offering an exhilarating open-top driving experience that adds a new dimension to the Artura range.
Enhancements made for the Spider have also been integrated into the Artura coupe, resulting in a new model release alongside the Spider. Both the Spider and coupe variants deliver top-tier dynamic performance suitable for both regular driving and high-performance circuit use, while also offering near-silent electric-drive capabilities ideal for urban environments.
The design and development of the new Artura Spider were guided by ambitious targets across various aspects, including driver engagement, performance, agility, refinement, efficiency, and quality. With the added feature of a retractable hard-top, which operates electrically in just 11 seconds, the Artura Spider ensures an intoxicating supercar experience.
The new Artura Spider and coupe, designated as the 2025 model year (MY25), are now available for order, with initial deliveries expected from mid-year, depending on the region.
CEO Michael Leiters states, "The new Artura represents the pinnacle of next-generation supercars, regardless of the model chosen. We've enhanced the powertrain and chassis systems to deliver more power, better dynamic performance, and an even stronger connection with the driver, all without compromising on everyday driving. Alongside the new Artura coupe, we now introduce the Artura Spider, a convertible that embodies all these improvements and brings an extra dimension of open-air McLaren supercar excitement to our lineup."
McLaren's dedication to super-lightweight engineering is pivotal in delivering the exceptional dynamic characteristics and performance demanded of its vehicles. The Artura Spider boasts a dry weight of just 1,457kg, making it the lightest among convertible competitors and offering a power-to-weight ratio of 480PS/tonne at its lightest dry weight.
The McLaren Carbon Lightweight Architecture (MCLA) ensures a secure platform without sacrificing rigidity when the fixed roof is removed, with the majority of the weight difference between the Spider and coupe attributed to the electrically-operated Retractable Hard Top (RHT) mechanism.
